Ta Van Ninh has been appointed as the new Chef de Cuisine at Hoi An, the Vietnamese restaurant at Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi.
Hoi An brings a taste of Vietnamese street food to the capital, while adding the element of finesse with unexpected ingredients and cooked with an abundance of fragrant herbs.
Ulf Bremer, General Manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, said: “We are proud of the authenticity of the Vietnamese dishes served at Hoi An. Having Chef Ta Van at the helm of the Hoi An kitchen guarantees that our guests can continue to explore diverse flavours through his signature dishes.”
Part of the Shangri-La family for more than two years, Ta Van Ninh moved to Abu Dhabi from his role as Specialty Asian Chef at Kushi Restaurant in Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa in Mauritius.
Ta Van Ninh, Chef de Cuisine at Hoi An, said: “I’m honoured to be given the reins of the kitchen at such a popular restaurant in Abu Dhabi. It’s great to be given the chance to showcase the flavours of my homeland with a touch of modern cooking.”
Ta Van started his culinary journey as a Commis for an Italian restaurant in Hanoi, Vietnam. In 2010, he decided to pursue his career in the Middle East in the role of Chef de Partie for a luxury hotel in Dubai, where he spent 4 years climbing up the career ladder and becoming the Sous Chef at a top Asian restaurant. By the end of 2014, Ta Van decided to take on another culinary adventure in Mauritius, where he worked as Chef de Cuisine for a number of leading Asian venues on the island nation.
The best way to sample the wide variety of dishes at Hoi An would be to join Chef Ta Van at the Asian Supper Club. Held daily from 6pm until 8pm, this exquisite dinner experience is priced at AED 120* per person with free-flowing soft drinks and juices and at AED 185* per person with free-flowing selected house beverages.
