The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure is intensifying its efforts to ensure the safety and security of the maritime sector as well protect the rights of seafarers on board ships in the UAE waters and ports. This is in line with Cabinet resolution number (71) for 2021, regarding marine wrecks and violating ships in UAE waters or calling UAE ports, which will come into effect from 15 September 2021. The Ministry’s efforts support the UAE Government’s ongoing efforts to protect the UAE waters and marine environment, and reduce marine wrecks that may cause incidents.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) welcomed a high-profile delegation from Dubai Health Authority (DHA), spearheaded by HE Awad Al Ketbi, Director General of DHA at Moro Hub (Data Hub Integrated Solutions LLC), a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, the digital arm of DEWA. The visit aimed to offer deep insights into Moro Hub’s advanced technologies, as well as enhance cooperation between the two parties.

In line with its commitment to adopting the best practices of the UAE Government Excellence System, and launching initiatives that have global results, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in the UAE has launched the ‘Supporting our Blue Army’ initiative to improve the quality of life for seafarers while they are in the UAE. The initiative protects seafarers’ rights with ship owners and operating companies, as well as helps seafarers overcome the challenges they face as a result of the pandemic and travel restrictions.

As part of the country’s endeavours to establish its leadership as one of the leading maritime centres in the world, and to be recognized among the most important countries influencing the development of the global maritime industry, the Maritime Department at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure organized an assembly of leaders from various government and private sector within the maritime sector, to discuss and prepare the UAE candidacy file for the International Maritime Organization.
