The poetics of Igor Stravinsky and his musical theatre of myths and legends are brought back to life in the shadow play “The Firebird”. At Expo 2020, the Teatro Gioco Vita, which has been a key player in Italian animation theatre since the ‘70s, presents the choreographic narrative of an old fable, which unfolds through the use of light and the absence thereof; through body movements that follow the music in a suggestive balance between figurative and abstract, between reality and imagination.

To celebrate the International Children Day, the Figli D’arte Cuticchio company, with its age-old expertise in Sicilian “pupi”, presents a marionette show dedicated to the love story between Ruggiero and Bradamante. In 2001, the UNESCO listed the Opera dei Pupi as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

On Wednesday 24 November, which marks Italy National Day, the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, the Theatre's training centre representing the very history of opera and ballet and a breeding ground for tomorrow's talents in all disciplines related to live performing arts, pays tribute to Italy's great opera tradition with a concert entitled Expo-Opera 2020 to be hosted in the Italy Pavilion’s Auditorium. Under the guidance of Donato Renzetti, one of the most respected conductors of his generation, the young artists of La Scala's Academy, solo singers and orchestra, will perform symphonies and famous arias from the best-known works by Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini, bringing back to life stories and characters that have become part of our universal heritage.
