The Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC), the UAE’s leading platform for the personal and professional development of women in the Emirate of Dubai, disclosed that its total membership has increased by 28.3% during the first half of the year. The council added 167 new members during this period, which brings the total number of DBWC members up to 758. The increase in membership reflects the growing desire of the emirate’s business women to benefit from the initiatives and services that the council organizes, and highlights the important role that the council plays in supporting business women and in enhancing their competitiveness in the country’s labour market.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) today announced that it will receive an unprecedented $12.7 million donation from Blizzard Entertainment. The donation was tied to worldwide sales of a limited-edition "Pink Mercy" hero skin for Blizzard’s internationally acclaimed best-selling game Overwatch®, along with a special T-shirt created to support the cause. (“Skin” is a game industry term for an alternate version of a character’s outfit or appearance.) The gaming community rallied around the fundraising effort, making it the largest donation by a corporate partner in one year in BCRF’s 25-year history.

The Emirates Intellectual Property Association (EIPA) announced the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Arab Women's Council – Arab Organization for Social Responsibility to help reinforce cooperative frameworks across various fields related to Intellectual Property (IP). The new partnership demonstrates EIPA's continuing efforts to provide the necessary support needed in further promoting a culture of IP--increasing individual awareness on the important role that IP plays, fostering its culture and developing the means to protect it, which is a pillar of comprehensive development and a key driver in the efforts to position the UAE as one of the world's leading countries.

The Dubai Business Women Council held discussions with HE Yannick Glemarec, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director for Policy and Programme in UN Women, who headed a delegation consisting of 20 representatives of various cultural and economic sectors, during a meeting Yesterday at the headquarters of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
