UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency announced today that its Refugee Zakat Fund has expanded its reach to include displaced families in Afghanistan. Donors can now direct their Zakat and Sadaqah donations to support internally displaced families, helping them secure their most urgent needs. These donations can be channelled through the GiveZakat App or the Refugee Zakat Fund website.

The Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research has been awarded We Invest in People accreditation by Investors in People (IIP). A UK-based, globally recognized organization, IIP sets the benchmark in people management. The organization operates in 80 countries and has so far accredited over 50,000 companies around the globe. The Al Qasimi Foundation now shares this recognition with only 13 other accredited organizations in the UAE and is the first entity in Ras Al Khaimah to receive the endorsement.

Thought Leadership & Innovation Foundation (TLI), a not-for-profit organization that works at the nexus of science, technology and public health, is pleased to announce that Alisha Moopen, deputy managing director, Aster DM Healthcare, will join TLI’s Board of Directors. The United Arab Emirates has been ratified as an Associate Member of the International Ski Federation (FIS) following a vote by member countries at the 52nd International Ski Congress, which was held last week in Switzerland. Attaining the membership is the culmination of a five-year campaign spearheaded by Majid Al Futtaim and Ski Dubai in collaboration with the UAE Winter Sports Federation. It paves the way for Emirati snow sports athletes to compete internationally for the first time and for the United Arab Emirates to host FIS-accredited international snow sports competitions such as the FIS Alpine Slalom and Slopestyle Ski and Snowboard event, which is due to take place at Ski Dubai later this year.
