It’s only been just over four weeks since Dana White announced UFC Fight IslandTM was real, but now Abu Dhabi is ready to host UFC® 251 tonight on Yas Island. The final piece to UFC Fight Night has been placed inside Flash Forum, from where international UFC fights will be broadcast to TV screens worldwide tonight from 2am GST.
A 2,000-strong workforce in Abu Dhabi has worked tirelessly for 33 days to make this event a reality for sports fans worldwide, whilst also keeping the UFC and the Abu Dhabi community safe. The Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), the masterminds behind the ‘safe zone’, have created a COVID-19-free bubble to allow the best fights in the world this year to go ahead.
Saeed Al Saeed Destination Marketing Director for DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “It has been a massive undertaking, but the main priority has always been the health and safety of everyone involved. We believe we’ve set the standard for what a safe, COVID-free event with world-class facilities looks like in the future. I’m pleased we will be sharing that with the world tonight.”
Dana White, CEO of UFC said: “When you come to do a live event, nobody does it like Abu Dhabi. Nobody.”
