Brother International (GULF) FZE, the leading global manufacturer of home sewing machines, has partnered with Craft Land, a needle and fibre crafting store in Dubai, and Brest Friends, a UAE-based support group that provides psychological counselling and support to all breast cancer patients, survivors and their families, to hold this year's edition of 'Sew Pink,’ a 30-hour sewing marathon that aims to increase awareness on breast cancer and make care packs for recovering breast cancer patients. The event started on October 29th and will run till October 31, 2015, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Dubai Marina Mall. This year’s event aims to surpass the success of last year’s edition, which saw the participation of more than 300 volunteers and saw the production of 668 mastectomy cushions and drainage bags that were part of care packs distributed to patients recovering from breast surgery.

 

During the exciting three-day sewing marathon, volunteers will be working up to 10 hours each day in production lines to create mastectomy cushions and drainage bags that will later be distributed by Brest Friends and other medical groups across various hospitals to offer comfort and mobility to patients, helping them keep active as they heal. Other sponsors for ‘Sew Pink 2015’ include Dubai Marina Mall (Venue Sponsor) and Lecien, which is donating the fabric to be used for the sewing marathon.
