After three grueling weeks of solving real world cases on Artificial Intelligence, 1200 high school students from across 60 schools in the UAE competed last Saturday for the DEWA Business Cup Challenge 2019 hosted by Curtin University Dubai. The winning team – Carv – comprised of four students from GEMS Wellington International School presented an exceptional solution in the Finals. They were also the recipients of DEWA’s Best Solution Award, given for the best case study on developing a narrow AI solution for DEWA.

Microsoft today announced that there are now 323 educators from the UAE are now The Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) Expert , a number that has doubled in the past year. These educators join over 9,300 others in the MIE Expert program worldwide to share ideas, try new approaches and learn from each other as a global community dedicated to improving student outcomes through technology.

Emirates Steel, the only integrated steel plant in the UAE and a subsidiary of the General Holding Corporation (SENAAT), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi University (ADU), to develop courses and research on the metals and steel sector. The MoU will see collaboration on the development of a Bachelor’s programme in metallurgy, alongside on-job training at Emirates Steel, and is designed to further the future of the national metals industry.
