  • New keywords in the tourism industry: “Bay tourism, the most beautiful bays, 10 islands”

    In response to the global trend of sustainable tourism, the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications is promoting the "Tourism 2020 - Taiwanese Sustainable Tourism Development Program" and designating main themes for each year from 2017 to 2020. Among them, the year of 2018 has been designated as the Year of Bay Tourism. Six cities and counties and 10 islands with island resources have been designated as pilot sites. Among those designated are three islands in Taiwan’s Penghu archipelago: Qimei, Yuweng and Jibe. The goal of the program is to encourage tourists to explore Taiwan’s 10 major islands, develop island eco-tourism, and spread appreciation and awareness among locals and tourists about protecting marine ecology.

The hike featured a total of 15 female representatives who have gathered together from across the GCC countries to conquer the summit of Jebel Shams. Standing at over 3 km above sea level, Jebel Shams is the highest peak in the GCC where the hikers stood to send a message of love and unity under the slogan “One Nation”.

    16 women representing various GCC countries will climb Jebel Shams, the region’s highest mountain peak via Western Hajar mountain trek organized by Husaak Adventures in collaboration with Oman Ministry of Tourism from December 10 to 12, 2015 at Muscat, Oman. The three-day expedition will see the 16 female mountaineers making their way to Jebel Shams’s height of over 3,000 meters above the sea level.

    The Jeju Island Tourism Organization, South Korea has revealed a 20 per cent increase in the number of UAE tourists that have visited South Korea’s Jeju Island during the first half of 2017. The figures were presented in a special promotional event held today (Thursday July 20, 2017) at the JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai. The event was aimed towards further promoting the increasing popularity of Jeju Island to a potential UAE and Middle East market. Jeju, which is the largest island off the coast of the Korean Peninsula, has long been South Korea's highly preferred holiday destination--made more attractive for its beautiful beaches and posh countryside and seaside hotel and resorts. Gracing the promotional event was His Excellency (H.E.) Seongtae Jeon, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. This information session was also attended by the Korean Consul Namdeook Heo in Dubai, Director Yongsuk Kwon of KOTRA, President Geyongsoo Kim of the Korean Association of UAE, Dubai travel agencies, medical tourism officials, and associated reporters.
