• ‘Walking for Better Health’ initiative draws in more than 200 participants

    The Ministry of Environment and Water in cooperation with the Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, the Dubai Sports Council and the Dubai Foundation for Ambulance Services, recently organized the ‘Walking for Better Health’ walkathon that took place at Khor Al Mamzar, Dubai. Drawing in more than 200 participants, the event was developed to complement the ‘World Day for Physical Activity’, and the ‘World Health Day’.

  • ‘Supreme Legislation Committee’ concludes 2015 with discussions of top achievements & aspirations during brainstorming session

    The Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) has concluded the year 2015 with a brainstorming session led by Secretary General H.E. Ahmad Bin Meshar Al Muhairi. The session focused on SLC’s top accomplishments in line with its vision of an integrated legislative system in support of Dubai’s sustainable development plans. Major challenges and opportunities were discussed to continuously promote excellence within the SLC, develop the legislative process and legal system, and ensure implementation of legislations under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai. The discussions complement ongoing efforts to make Dubai one the world’s most advanced countries by 2021.

  • Al Baraha Hospital and Drydocks World provide free medical consultations for employees

    In adherence with the declaration of 2017 as the Year of Giving, the Ministry of Health & Prevention (MOHAP), represented by Al Baraha Hospital, organized a free medical consultation for workers, employees and their families. The free consultation was organized in cooperation with Drydocks world, and aimed to raise awareness about the importance of regular check-ups and introduce the community to the services offered by Al Baraha Hospital.

  • DED- Ajman seizes 158,415 counterfeit auto parts in Al Helio

    The Department of Economic Development – Ajman’s (DED – Ajman) Directorate Control and Consumer Protection recently seized a total of 158,415 counterfeit car parts from 14 international brands in Al Helio area. The DED- Ajman and Ajman Police discovered the fake auto parts in a joint operation carried out to secure consumer markets, combat commercial fraud, and protect consumer rights. Aside from the confiscation of the counterfeit products, legal action is being pursued against the violators.

  • DEWA approves 143 enrolled electrical and solar photovoltaic consultants and contractors

    Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised the fifth training course for contractors and consultants who specialise in installing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Trainees learned about the technical requirements, safety standards, and DEWA’s guidelines for installing PV panels on rooftops to generate electricity and connect it to DEWA’s grid. The training is part of DEWA’s efforts to ensure PV systems are designed and installed according to the highest international quality standards. This is part of the Shams Dubai initiative, which enables customers to install photovoltaic panels on building rooftops and connect them to DEWA’s grid.

  • DEWA conducts routine review of its corporate governance system

    Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recently conducted a routine review of its corporate governance system to ensure that it is operating efficiently and effectively to achieve its goals. This supports the directives and policies of the government to improve Dubai’s position as a global hub for trade, finance and tourism, and develop it into the smartest city in the world. DEWA has been using an advanced governance system since 2008 to ensure transparency and accountability according to world-class standards of governance.

    A delegation from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), headed by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, has begun meetings with Chinese public and private organisations. The delegation to China is building stronger ties and developing partnerships with China’s public and private sectors. This supports the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which gives priority to sustainability and focuses on an integrated approach to design standards, public infrastructure, finance, management, and maintenance.

  • DEWA delegation meets Dutch officials during official visit to Amsterdam

    A delegation from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has met Dutch officials from the Kingdom of the Netherlands while making an official visit. The delegation, headed by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, met officials from the public and private sectors in both Rotterdam and Amsterdam. The visit supports DEWA’s efforts to exchange expertise and review the latest technologies and best international practices in smart transformation. The meetings discussed topics of mutual interest, particularly DEWA’s supporting the transformation of Dubai into the smartest city in the world.

    In the presence of HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), DEWA organised a workshop today at Grand Hyatt hotel in Dubai for over 250 consultants and contractors to update them about the Al Namoos service. The workshop supports DEWA’s strategy to build closer ties and strengthen cooperation, update them on DEWA’s initiatives for improvements, find recommendations to streamline and accelerate the process to get electricity and water services according to world-class practices, to improve the excellence of its operations for all partners and stakeholders, improving quality and excellence to the highest possible standards. This is with the aim of achieving the happiness of all stakeholders, and ensuring the UAE is ranked number one for getting electricity.

  • DEWA receives 35 representatives from Scandinavian nations at Sustainable Building

    HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received a delegation headed by Mette Laursen, Founder of LinKS. The 35-member delegation represents various Scandinavian countries, and is participating in the Global Women's Forum in Dubai, which is being held for the first time in the region. The Forum is held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and led by HH Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, President of Dubai Women Establishment, and wife of HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Presidential Affairs.
