  • ‘Smart Government Application Store’ wins ‘2016 Smart Government Award’

    The ‘Smart Government Application Store’ has won the ‘2016 Smart Government Award’ under the ‘Best Smart Application in the Arab Region’ category during the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA)’s recent participation in the 7th Smart Government Excellence Awards held by the Central Agency of Information Technology of Kuwait. This year’s edition witnessed the participation of 25 government organizations from the GCC and the Middle East.

  • ‘Supreme Legislation Committee’ and ‘Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal Consultants’ partner to raise legal and legislative standards

    In response to the directives of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Chairman of the Supreme Legislation Committee, to establish communication channels with the community and develop improved and efficient legislation, the Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) has signed an agreement with the Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal Consultants to establish a stronger legal and legislative structure and foster a culture of justice. The cooperation is in line with the ongoing efforts to reinforce the country’s standing in global judicial systems. The agreement was signed by H.E. Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the Supreme Legislation Committee, and by Lawyer Zayed Saeed Saif Al Shamsi, Chairman of the board of directors of the Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal Consultants at the SLC premises in the presence of several high-level officials and consultants.

    The Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Imam Malik College for Islamic Sharia and Law to promote efforts to enrich, transfer, and share knowledge and expertise in line with mutual objectives aiming at raising legal, legislative, and research performance, as well as consolidating the role of law in building a knowledge-based society. The two parties emphasized concerted efforts to establish Dubai as a leading center of legal excellence, through enhancing legal training and encouraging research to keep pace with ongoing positive developments at the legal, research, and academic levels in the UAE.

    The Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) has concluded the year 2015 with a brainstorming session led by Secretary General H.E. Ahmad Bin Meshar Al Muhairi. The session focused on SLC’s top accomplishments in line with its vision of an integrated legislative system in support of Dubai’s sustainable development plans. Major challenges and opportunities were discussed to continuously promote excellence within the SLC, develop the legislative process and legal system, and ensure implementation of legislations under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai. The discussions complement ongoing efforts to make Dubai one the world’s most advanced countries by 2021.

    The Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) highlighted the interactive features of its unified knowledge-based application, Dubai Government’s app ‘Official Gazette’, during the opening day of this year’s edition of GITEX Technology Week, the largest information and communications technology (ICT) event in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, which is held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) under the theme, ‘The Internet Future of Everything’. The new app is the latest addition to SLC’s Smart services portfolio, which have been designed according to the standards of excellence and innovation to support the efforts of Dubai’s transformation into the world’s leading Smart City.

  • ‘Supreme Legislation Committee’ honours ‘Dubai Smart Government’ for its contribution to the success of GRPS project

    The General Secretariat of the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai (SLC) has honoured the Dubai Smart Government (DSG) for its excellent support and cooperation in the implementation and operation of the Government Resource Planning System (GRPS) project and the Smart Employee service. H.E. Ahmad Bin Meshar Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the SLC, presented an honorary shield to Huda Al Hashimi, Director of DSG’s GRP Department, commending the team’s utmost commitment to the highest standards of efficiency and professionalism in achieving the mutual aspirations of promoting Government integration driving the smart transformation in Dubai. Attending at the honouring ceremony were senior officials and managers from the SLC General Secretariat, foremost among whom was the Legal Advisor, Mr. Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Assistant Secretary General.

  • ‘Supreme Legislation Committee’ successfully hosts workshop on ‘‘Creativity and Innovation of Government Institutions’’

    The General Secretariat of the Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) in Dubai successfully hosted lately a workshop entitled ‘Creativity and Innovation of Government Institutions’. The event is part of the ‘UAE Innovation Week’ initiative and in response to the directives of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President to mark 2015 as the ‘Year of Innovation’ and in line with the National Innovation Strategy which was launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The sessions were held under the supervision of Lieutenant Tariq Mohammed Al Saroumi, from Dubai Police and focused on how the efforts to adopt innovation plays a significant role in the country’s core values and its quest towards government excellence, and how the employee should consider his work as a workmanship he adores, and enjoys his performance and accomplishment in order to be creative.

    A total of 1.75m passengers travelled through the Hatta border crossing in 2017, and more than 152,000 declarations were carried out, and 3904 seizures. 

  • 13 customers win a total of AED 39,000 in DEWA’s Best Consumer Award

    Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) honoured 13 of its customers who won the Best Consumer Award, which DEWA organised for the 12th consecutive year. The move supports DEWA’s efforts to encourage customers to use electricity and water sensibly, and its strategy to reduce energy demand, and protect natural resources and ensure their sustainability. Fardan Al Balooshi won the first prize of AED 10,000. The second prize went to Rahulkumar Shah who was awarded AED 5,000, and Ahmad Al Abbasi won the AED 4,000 third prize. Winners from 4th to 13th places were awarded AED 2,000 each.
