HE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has inaugurated United Development Company’s (UDC) pavilion at Cityscape 2018, where he unveiled the company’s latest real estate project, Gewan Island.
The event brought together HE Mr. Turki Bin Mohammed Al Khater, UDC Chairman and Mr. Ibrahim Jassim Al-Othman, the company’s President & CEO, along with a number of officials, businessmen and representatives of the public and private sectors.
Gewan Island, UDC’s latest real estate project next to The Pearl-Qatar, spans across 400,000 sqm with a total built up area of 388,000 sqm.
The project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2021, will accommodate 3000 residents and 6000 visitors including working professionals, bringing the total number of daily visitors to 9,000. The island will be home to 611 units, including 558 apartments, 26 waterfront villas, 21 beachfront villas, and 6 island villas in addition to 21,000 sqm of retail space and a number of residential buildings.
The island, which derives its name from the full-round, pink-tinted and perfectly shaped pearl from Qatar’s marine heritage, will support a mix of property types, catering for different accommodation and investment needs.
The island was designed as an extension to The Pearl-Qatar, offering its residents a comprehensive living space merging entertainment and retail outlets with smart technologies. It is expected to attract a warm, welcoming and youthful community seeking an urbane and vibrant lifestyle.
The island includes a theme park, an air-conditioned outdoor ‘Crystal’ boardwalk which acts like the island’s spine, a green park and a waterfront retail esplanade that will attract new brands to Doha. The island will also be home to entertainment facilities, a sports club and a mosque.

The island’s design incorporates a number of sustainability features to reduce the use of vehicles and encourage walking and biking through dedicated pedestrian and cycling networks in addition to roads connecting the island to the public transportation network. The island was also designed to reduce urban heat by incorporating green roofs, shading, and reflective surfaces, where applicable.
The island, which will feature 100,000 sqm of road networks and 20,000 sqm of open space, and will be accessible through 3 main roads.
Launch of UDC’s 2nd stage sale of properties at Giardino Village
Giardino Village is one of the most luxurious and promising residential areas on the island, offering a wide range of landscaped gardens in a unique atmosphere. Cityscape Qatar 2018 featured UDC’s second stage sale of a mix of properties at Giardino Village. These include villa plots and low-rise building lots comprising a ground floor and three or five stories as well as villas under construction.
Launch of 3rd sale phase of sales at Al Mutahidah Towers after successfully wrapping up phase 1 and 2
Cityscape also featured the launch of the third sale phase of residential units at Al Mutahidah Towers in Viva Bahriya precinct after successfully wrapping up phase 1 and 2 of sales. Al Mutahidah Towers consist of high-end connected towers offering accommodation units of various dimensions including studios, luxury apartments as well as high-level penthouses. The towers also boast panoramic sea-views and direct access to the beach.
Participants in Cityscape 2018, can visit UDC’s 900 sqm pavilion and meet with the company’s specialized sales team to learn more about existing investment opportunities, the characteristics of UDC’s various projects and the company’s latest commercial and residential projects on the island. UDC also unveiled a number of attractive promotional offers to visitors and presented investors and tenants with various discounts on its diverse mix of residential and commercial units.
UDC’s stand is located at the exhibition’s entrance and is open to the public on April 22 from 10 am – 10 pm and from April 23 to 25 from 12 pm to 10 pm. On the second day of the event, UDC will be signing three major contracts related to Gewan Island’s development and contracting works.
