Technology is playing a key role in transforming the learning process in the Gulf region as educational institutions are investing heavily to shift from lecture-style classrooms to active-learning environments, say experts.

Service Hero, the Kuwait based and the region’s only consumer powered customer satisfaction index, announced the list of top performing companies across the UAE, based on its end of year 2018 customer service index. It also announced a 1.6% increase in overall customers satisfaction, since the same time in 2017. The results were based on a total of 36,839 records collected out of which 29,057 met the strict validation criteria to ensure sample integrity and rigor.

The “SDGs in Action” forum during the recent World Government Summit in Dubai, has brought into focus the need for governments to harness innovation and technology to accelerate the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Global accountancy and finance body ICAEW says the accountancy profession can also contribute massively to this acceleration.

Cathay Pacific Group has released combined Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon traffic figures for January 2019 that show an increase in the number of passengers carried and a decrease in cargo and mail uplifted compared to the same month in 2018.


US inflation slows

The Riksbank held its repo rate at -0.25 percent at its February meeting and stuck to its forecast to tighten policy in the second half of 2019 after hiking the repo rate for the first time in more than seven years in December. Meanwhile, In US the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) was unchanged in January on a seasonally adjusted basis, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, "headline" inflation increased just 1.6%, the lowest number since June 2017. January's number continues a trend of slowing inflation, primarily spurred by falling gasoline prices. As recently as June 2018, annual inflation was running at 2.9%, but has been steadily declining since then. We expect USD to fall against SEK.
